Army Men Sarges Heroes(N64)

This is one of those games that has a cool original idea. Remember those green and tan plastic soldiers you used to have and play with as a child? Well, this game takes that to a whole new level! In the game you are this green plastic soldier named 'Sarge' and you go around shooting tan plastic soldiers.

The game takes place in two worlds; the army men world, and the real world. In the game, the tan army finds a portal to the real world and they go and get other toys from the real world and bring them back to their world. For example, the tan base is made of Lincoln Logs and wooden building blocks.

The portals in between worlds is the bucket that army men are stored in. In the Army Men world, everything is proportionate to your size, but one you enter the real world, everything is HUGE. The first time you enter the real world, you start in a bath tub and have to save this one negotiator and fight tan people, but dont fall into the water because you die.

In the first game, which is this game, you go around saving your fellow soldiers that have been kidnapped my Plastro, the Tan Army leader, and are being tortured. And in the second game, you go arround fighting with the people you saved.

The game is a Third-Person Shooter, like Gears of War or something like that. Usually the game doesn't glitch, actually, I can't remember a time that it has, but one problem is that "sumtimes" when you go to jump over a gap that you would die if you fell from, you person will jump up and move forward about an inch and you will fall down and die. Your person is supposed to jump outward and obver the gap.

The multiplayer is pretty fun and can be addicting, but playing with just one other person can be lame because you and the other person end up camping and hording the power weapons and then just look at the other persons half of the screen and kill them. There are no CPU's that you can add and there is no co-op.

I'd give the game a 8/10 because it is addicting to play and because of its shear cleverness with the games story and the fact that you play as plastic toy soldiers which is fun. One of the clever things they added in the game, is that if you get the flamethrower, and shoot it at your enemies, they will run around in circles, then melt into a puddle of plastic.

Here is the trailer for the game...its actually pretty clever, like the game:

Jetforce Gemini

JetForce Gemini is a Third-Person Shooter made by RareWare (the third game in a row by them I have reviewed). Like the other two games, this one is one of the best. Although not very many people have heard of this game, the ones that have love it.

The only game this could compare to is Gears Of War, as both these games are Third-Person Shooters and both are similar and the music in sometimes similar, and amazing. Here is a link to the triler for JetForce Gemini https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuaVOZeDKvE

The Graphics are very good for a Nintendo 64 game and the style is cool. The game gets a 8/10. One thing you should know about this game, is it is mostly for single player, because the multiplayer is terible. Most older games were designed for single player campaign. Technicaly there is a co-op mode, but not really(a few levels into the game, you find this robot named Floyd (get it? Floyd The Droid..ha..) and then you can have a second player use the robots lazers and help shoot aliens, but usually, the robot doesn't help much becuase you can't fly him arround, he has to stay by the side of the main charater)

But...if you love a good classic single player campaign, this game is for you. In the game, you travel arround to different planets and fight enemies that look like ants and blow them limb from limb with rocket launchers and machine guns and plasma shotguns and sniper rifles. There are atleast 9 main plannets that you can travel to as any caracter after you beat them.

The caracters are; Juno(Male), Vela(female), and Lupis Each character has different abilities; Juno can walk in lava, Vela can smim under water, and lupis can hover in the air for a short amout of time. I give this game a 9/10 because it is just that fun to play. So far, no plasn for a sequal or remake of the game is planned, but all the fans of the game are dying for one or the other or both.

GoldenEye 007(Nintendo64 and Wii)

GoldenEye is a first person shooter based on the movie GoldenEye. In the game, you play as James Bond and you go around several levels and complete mission objectives. This game is considered one of the best games ever made, especially because of the multiplayer.

The multiplayer in the game is considered to be the first FPS to have a good multiplayer set up and most modern multiplayer FPS's use this same set up. The game came out in 1997 and was very popular. The graphics are pretty good and the CPU's are very intelligent for such an old game. One of the reasons why the game is such a big deal is because the company that made the game (RARE-WARE) had never made a game like GoldenEye and most of the game's programers had never really made a video game before.

For an FPS, it is a very good game, and is just as fun as most modern FPS's. The game was going to be released for Xbox-Live Arcade, but they got into a bunch of legal issues with Nintendo, so they made released Perfect Dark instead. Nintendo released a version of GoldenEye, which is not a remake, but more of a retelling of the movie with Daniel Craig. The game was very fun and the campaign was awesome. The multiplayer was good too, until the hackers got up in there.

The game also has lag when playing multiplayer too. The best way to play the game is using a Wii-Remote and a Nunchuck, but you can use a Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro. When using the Wii-Remote and Nunchuck, you can lean arroud corners, which you can do using any of the other controllers. I give the Wii version of the game an 8/10, and same goes for the GoldenEye for Nintendo 64. Here is the trailer for GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 (its fan-made) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DzOlX9OLyo

Perfect Dark (Nintendo 64 and Xbox 360)

Perfect Dark is a first-person shooter that came out in 2000 for the Nintendo 64. The company that created Perfect Dark, Rareware(Now they go only by 'Rare Ltd.' They were a British video game company, before Microsoft paid $375 million for acquisition of the company and the right to all of its games.) also created a very popular game celled GoldenEye 007. Many People compare these two games as they are very similar, but Perfect Dark is better. A few years ago, Microsoft remade the game with enhanced graphics and a better frame rate, as the original game had a problem of lagging when multiple explosions would go off. They released the game on the Xbox Live Arcade for 800 Microsoft Points. The game is worth the small ammount of money, and if you have played and loved the original game, this is a must buy. The only problem with the Xbox version, is the online multiplayer. The problem is lag, or hackers, or any of the typical multiplayer problems; the problem with the online, is that noone plays the game online that has it. But the solo campaign and local multiplayer aren't are problem at all, and feels a lot like the original game. Here is a video showing the difference in graphics of the original and Xbox version of the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipzZcrdbVX4

This is gameplay of the first level of the game for the XBLA download https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXf3DlYkr3E

If you happen to have a Nintendo 64 and still play it, then you should buy a copy of this game. Copies of Perfect Dark (depending on where you buy them) should be cheap. I bought a copy of the game after my original copy was broken when my basement flooded due to so much rain. My Nintendo 64 also broke, but I had an extra one laying around. If you wanted to buy a Nintendo 64, they are relatively cheap as well, only about $50. I recomend getting one because they are a classic item to have, and becasue it has good games that are fun to play. "Perfect Dark" is NOT "Perfect Dark ZERO". That game is a prequal to Perfect Dark, but it is denied as a real prequal to the N64 version by the die-hard fans of the original game. I personaly deny the games existance and refuse to talk about it or give it credit as a good game. So pretty much Perfect Dark ZERO is a prequal by title only, even though it has the same main character.

You can watch the trailer for Perfect Dark in the links below:
